In every direction you turned your head, there it was. Every color, shape, size, and type you could imagine, it was there.
What am I talking about? Well, food, of course!
Tomatoes, apples, berries, carrots, onions, lettuce, dried fruit, sardines, salmon, tuna, shellfish, and even more were all within arms reach from my mouth. If only I could have dropped my bags and tried a taste of everything. Nevertheless, I knew that this was not the case and settled for buying strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Still, I gazed around in wonder at the sheer amount of fresh everything that was available.
At the Rialto Market in Venice fish is gutted right before your eyes and fruit ripens to the sweetest it could possibly taste. The market was our last stop on our visit to Venice and I will always remember the pure amazement I felt while looking around at the tons of food before me.
As I slipped a raspberry into my mouth, it burst into a sweet, sour, juicy flavor that could only make better the sweet feeling of walking amongst fresh food in a market in the beautiful city of Venice.
